Live Operator Independent Contractor
Earn a guaranteed minimum $8.50 per hour, with the benefits of flexible work hours and working from home! VoiceLog is looking for English, Spanish or bi-lingual independent contractor live operators with flexible hours.
VoiceLog is the #1 provider of third party verification services in the US. Our operators receive live verification calls for telephone companies and other service industries looking to help combat sales fraud. All calls are recorded for quality assurance and compliance purposes.
Work at home as an independent contractor during the hours of 2pm CST to 11pm CST Monday-Friday and every other weekend. You can choose to work shifts of 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 hours. As an inbound live operator verification agent, you will earn a guaranteed minimum $8.50 per hour
Minimum Requirements Include:
- Quiet home office setting
- Personal computer running Windows Vista or Higher (Preferably Windows 7) or MAC OS X
- At least 2 Gigabytes of RAM is required (Preferred 4 Gigabytes of RAM)
- CPU (processor) Multi-core @ 2.2 GHz or above or Single-core @ 3.0 GHz or above
- Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher
- Microsoft Word, Excel and a working printer
- E-mail provider that allows enough space to receive fairly large documents
- Reliable DSL or Cable HIGH SPEED Internet access (dialup or satellite not acceptable)
- Current anti-virus software and Ad-Ware software
- AOL Instant Messenger account
- A second phone line (already installed) dedicated to accepting inbound calls, with no features (no VOIP, no digital phone, no call waiting, voicemail etc.)
- At least 1 year of customer service experience (inbound or outbound call center)
- Requires a Headset
- Required to work at least 20 hours per week

Are there any fees associated with the application or training process?
Currently, there are no fees associated with the application process. Our training program does require you to dial-in to a conference line so unless you have unlimited long distance, there will be long distance charges associated with your call. After your training is completed, long distance telephone service is not required to take our customers calls.
What is a Live Operator?
A Live Operator is an independent contractor for VoiceLog that works from home and takes live inbound calls that are recorded to verify a customer's choice to order a service. There is no selling involved in being a VoiceLog operator.
What does a Live Operator do?
Live Operators take inbound calls for VoiceLog's customers to verify service orders. All calls are recorded and must meet certain requirements to be considered ''verified." Live Operators also code calls to appropriately reflect the outcome of the call after the call has been completed.
Will I have to do any selling or up-selling?
No. The calls you will be handling are inbound verification calls only. The Live Operator’s do not handle any sales calls.
How do I become a Live Operator?

What is an Independent Contractor?
An Independent Contractor is not an employee of VoiceLog. You are contracted by VoiceLog and you will be sent a 1099 annually. As an Independent Contractor, you are responsible for setting up and paying your own Federal and State taxes on a quarterly basis.
What characteristics or qualities will make me the most successful in this role?
Previous call center or customer service experience is not necessary but is an added plus as it prepares you for handling various customer situations. Qualified candidates should possess the following qualities: responsible, organized, patient and friendly. Furthermore, you should have the ability to control your tone of voice during different situations. It is also important that you take your role and the commitment you have made very seriously by showing up for your scheduled hours and doing an outstanding job.
After submitting my application, how long before I hear back from VoiceLog?
Applicants are contacted on an as needed basis and only if the applicant meets all requirements. If we do not contact you, please do not contact our Human Resources or Customer Service departments as they do not have access to the Independent Contractor application information. Again, all contracting is done on an as needed basis. We will hold onto your application for 6 months if you meet all requirements.
How can I find out the status of my application?
At this time we do not have the ability to inform individual applicants of their status. We will contact you via phone or email if we are interested in contracting you. Please do not contact our Human Resources or Customer Service departments as they do not have access to the Independent Contractor applications.
Do I have to live in the United States to be a Live Operator?
Yes, you have to live in the United States to be a Live Operator. We are not currently accepting applications from anyone living outside of the United States.
Do I have to be 18 years of age to be a Live Operator?
Yes, you must be at least 18 years of age to be contracted as a Live Operator.
Do I have to be a US citizen to be a Live Operator?
Yes, you do have to be a US Citizen to be a Live Operator. You will need your Social Security Number to fill out the appropriate paperwork.
Are background checks a part of the application process?
VoiceLog currently requires background checks on its applicants. We do ask that all contracted Operators sign a release stating that VoiceLog is permitted to run a background check on them at any given time.
If I've worked for VoiceLog before, am I still able to reapply?
If you've previously worked for VoiceLog and left the company in good standing, then you are eligible to reapply. VoiceLog will verify that all applicants who have previously terminated their contracts with the company did so in good standing before we will re-contract them.
What are the requirements for becoming a Live Operator?
Our current requirements are as follows: A quiet home office setting and a personal computer with the following: Windows Vista or 7 or MAC OS X, 2 Gigabytes of RAM, Pentium 4 1.6 GHz CPU (processor) or higher, Microsoft Word and Excel, Printer, Internet Explorer 8.0 or higher, reliable high speed Internet, either Cable or DSL (dial-up and/or satellite not allowed at this time), e-mail address and e-mail provider that allows large attachments, AOL Instant Messenger account, a second, dedicated phone line (no VoIP, cell phones, digital phones, call waiting, voicemail, etc. allowed). In addition, 1 year of customer service is preferred but not required.
Are there software downloads involved?
Our current applications do require some client software downloads. This software will be downloaded and updated automatically (when necessary) upon login.
Do I need a separate telephone line to be a Live Operator?
Does my second line need to be installed before I apply?
Yes! You will need this line to complete your VoiceLog training so it is required to be in place prior to submitting your application. If you are in the process of having a second phone line installed, please submit your application and include the installation date.
Can I use VoIP, Digital Phone or a Cell Phone to take calls?
At this point in time, VoiceLog does not allow contractors to use VoIP, digital phone or cell phone technology due to the inherent call quality issues associated with each one.
Can I use my home phone line if I remove all features?
It is sometimes allowed provided your home phone is not used as your primary line. Some contractors use their cell phone as their main contact number. If this is the situation, we can discuss during the initial phone interview. Many times contractors change their phone number prior to starting the position to make certain personal phone calls are not an issue.
Do I need an Internet connection to be a Live Operator?
Yes, VoiceLog requires a high speed cable or DSL Internet connection.
Will I need a specific email address to be a Live Operator?
You will need an e-mail account that is from a paid provider that will allow large attachments as we often send information to our contractors. Free e-mail accounts typically have size limitations that may cause you to not receive all of the required information.
How many hours am I able to work?
You are allowed to work as many hours as you are able if your hours of availability coincide with the needs of our customers. The broader your times of availability are the better chance that you will be scheduled. VoiceLog only schedules Live Operators for hours based on the needs of our customers.
How much money will I make as a Live Operator?
VoiceLog currently pays Live Operator Independent Contractors $8.50 per hour.
How do I get my scheduled hours?
VoiceLog uses a scheduling application to meet its scheduling requirements. If you complete the training process successfully and are contracted by VoiceLog, you will be provided a login to access your weekly schedule. Schedules are posted on Thursday afternoons so you will know what your next week's hours will be and can schedule your time accordingly.
How will I be paid?
VoiceLog pays its contractors on the 8th and 22nd of each month via direct deposit. All work performed from the 1st through the 15th of each month will be paid on the 22nd of that month and all work performed from the 16th through the last day of the month will be paid on the 8th of the following month. You will need a checking or savings account in your name to receive your check via direct deposit from VoiceLog. Currently, this is the only way we pay contractors. The contractors first check may be a ‘live’ check versus direct deposit and will be delivered via the US Postal Service as it’s not always possible to have the direct deposit set-up prior to the first pay date.
Will I be reimbursed for any expenses?
As an independent contractor, VoiceLog does not reimburse contractors for their expenses. All expenses incurred are the contractor's responsibility.
What can I expect during a normal shift?
As a VoiceLog Live Operator, you can expect consistent inbound calls throughout your scheduled shift from customers making a switch or a change with a telecommunications or utility company. You will be following a script and confirming required information for each specific customer. You will only be verifying services, there are no up-sells involved in the verification process and you are to remain a consistent, neutral party throughout the verification process. Do I have to attend training and for how long?
Yes, a two to three day training period is required for all new Live Operators. Training for this position typically begins on Mondays and Tuesdays and is scheduled between the hours of 9 AM CST and 3 PM CST. If you are re-applying for this position and are contracted, you can expect to go through a two-day refresher training course.
Will I be reimbursed for my training costs?
Currently VoiceLog does not reimburse Independent Contractors for any expenses incurred during the training process. If you decide not to continue with the training at any time you will not be reimbursed for your expenses.
